Freshen Up Your home For Spring 2019
Spring is finally on its way and we’re getting excited for the fabulous bloom of bright yellow daffodils, the smell of freshly cut grass in the air and the chance to freshen up the interior of our homes. So we’ve got together to come up with some hints and tips for what your spring refresh should look like, all the way from colours to the flooring you need.
Changing the colour of a room always appears to be a much larger task than it actually is. Just because you decide to change a colour of a room, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a huge job. You can re-paint, swap accessories or even just add a rug to change the theme and colourway of a room, but which colours should you go for this Spring?
Pale pink is a colour becoming very popular in the interior design world due to its natural properties and compatibility with other shades. Pink is the universal colour of love of ones self and of others and represents friendship, harmony, affection, inner peace and approachability. Perfect for creating a soothing and cosy atmosphere, pale pink is certainly a must have this Spring!
In 2019 we'll see colour that are associated with optimism like bold yellows, or oranges on the rise. Rich and inviting yellows are great to have in the home and pair beautifully with cool blues, beiges and pinks. Alternative Flooring have teamed up with interior designer Margo Selby once again to create a fantastic collection, with shades of yellows and greys which we're absolutely head over heels for! Interior Designer Becky Shea commented in an interview with Elle Decor - "Hunter green holds a sultry and worldly value to it, its intrinsic in nature and all of life. It's timeless in every respect and works beautifully with natural elements and naturals tones. What we also love about the colour is how seamlessly it transitions between millwork, walls, furniture and accessories. Its gender neutrality also holds a special place in my heart, there's no definition of a home feeling more masculine or feminine; it's the perfect balance of each."
Accessories are perhaps the easiest way to freshen up your home any time of the year. From cushions to art, there is always something you can add to ensure you're staying on top of the latest trends in the most minimal and cost effective way. But what accessories are are best to have this season?
Another current trend that will be continuing throughout 2019 is the explosion of greenery in your home, and the bigger... the better! This trend is ever increasing for places that are built up, or more urbanised areas of the UK and are a great way to introduce the outdoors into your home. If you're new to the plant game, we recommend an Aloe, Snake Plant or Cacti as they require very little, to no attention at all - just a splash of water ever two weeks or so is enough to keep them going. Statement plants that are oversized, or hanging are great additions to any room this Spring.
Rugs are like an LBD, reliable, look great and always get the job done, and that's why we're including them in our Freshen up for Spring 2019. Adding a rug to a room, or even your outdoor space, is perhaps the easiest way of changing a colour theme or uplifting an entire space. Although, finding the right one can be a difficult task. Luckily, we work alongside Alternative flooring to create your own, bespoke rug from scratch. Select your flooring type, border width and style and get it delivered to us to collect when you're ready.
Moving into 2019 we'll see a move towards fresh, natural materials such as stone, copper, concrete and granite. These elements will help to bring an organic and serene ambiance to any space while reflecting the world around your home. Although, this isn't the easiest trend to recreate in your home, it certainly is a bold statement. We suggest opting for stoneware accessories, natural wooden furniture or simple art that incorporates monochrome elements of nature.
